To inform our friends and neighbors about the proposed development of 86 acres between the communities known as Quiet Place in the Country and the Spruce Creek Fly-In Community.
Why this is important
Spruce Creek is on the list of Outstanding Florida Waters by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. An Outstanding Florida Water (OFW) is a water designated worthy of special protection because of its natural attributes. Click here for more info.
Plans are proposed to develop the 86 acres adjacent to the 2nd fairway of the SCCC, the Woodside Condos and the Lakes neighborhood (Spruce Creek Landing and Spruce Creek Glen). The proposed homes will be built on land that is an important point for water drainage for our community and surrounding areas (they will even be raising the land 9 to 15 feet). Building on this land will greatly increase our risk of flooding. The proposed homes are also right off the end of runway 6.
See below to send an email to Volusia County Planning Commission.
Residents in both Spruce Creek Fly-In and A Quiet Place in the Country are working on petitions and letters to Stephen Shams, Planner III, Planning and Development Services at Volusia County.
